What a fab city to begin this latest adventure. Bangkok is a busy and bustling city, full of culture, great food, and lots of traffic! A concrete jungle in places, crazy power lines, roadside restaurants, sky train snaking it's way above the roads, endless shopping and pockets of greenery. We stayed in Silom, which was safe and clean, and simple to get around. When we travel with the children, we try to keep things simple. Sticking to one main activity per day and some days none at all! This is what we chose to do in Bangkok: SNAKE FARM situated at the back of Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute where we had our travel vaccinations, the snake farm is a famous for making antivenom and houses 190 varieties of snake. The kids loved seeing the king cobra and the massive Burmese python which was the circumference of a soccer ball! LUMPINI PARK an unexpected gem of a place! lush and green in the middle of Bangkok. plenty of runners and locals enjoying the serenity. We saw 20-30 monitor lizards just lazing and swimming in the lakes. WAT ARUN (the temple of dawn). this was unlike many of the golden temples in Thailand, white with mosaic stone patterns. We chose Wat Arun to avoid the crowds at the grand palace and it was a great decision, with plenty of room the explore with the children and a fun boat trip each way. KIDZANIA This was the bribery required to endure 4 vaccinations on our first day! Kidzania is a worlwide chain where children can try up to 50 different careers in a kid sized village. The earn 'kidzo's' working and can then spend them in their shops. The kids got to go to university, learnt to be dentists, surgeons, gas attendants, couriers, actors, pilots, sushi chefs, McDonalds chefs to name but a few. An entertaining and educational day for our two. All in all, although Bangkok stretched our travel budget a little, it is an exciting city to visit and we'll be looking forward to returning during this year. striking the balance links: This book is a link to Amazon. Loved seeing the photos. Glenn said you're 'looking lovely'. Ladies area all impressed that you're still living the dream. I noticed that you'd put on a few pounds. Seriously though, great that you're out there doing it. We're living vicariously through you guys. Enjoy
